An enterely self-taught artist, who has only been painting for exhibition during the years since she arrived in Andalucia, Carmen Bonnici mixes Pollock-like abstraction with representacional elements, and also works in ceramics and decorations employing iconography and images from media and popular culture.
Carmen was born in Inverness, Scotland, but raised in Western Australia. It was there, while living on the Abrohlis Islands that she discovered her love of painting while receiving home schooling. She has painted throughout her life, but it was only on settling in Ronda, where she has had three solo exhibitions, that she launched a career as a professional artist. |
